One of the main arguments that scientists are still trying to prove is that if you eat a high protein, high fat foods diet that are low on carbohydrates that you will be at risk with heart disease.

Scientific studies have proven that although you are eating high protein, high fatty foods and low carbohydrates that you are still eating less calories. Probably the thing that set off this fight with low and high carb foods was the claim that you could eat all the low carbohydrate foods that you want and still lose weight. This could be the case but scientist will always want to counter that thought as they do not know where the extra food is going.

The definition of low carbs does not mean the elimination of carbohydrates all together. Low carb food diets state that they do not want you to eat high carb foods such as bread, certain fruits and sugar. It does not state that you should not eat them it just states that they should be restricted or monitored.

The high carb foods list is just the opposite. It states that you can eat all the bread and sugar you want just in moderation. Included in that list of foods are the normal carbohydrate foods.

Studies have shown though that there is no higher risk of heart disease in either group. There was however a less risk of heart disease from people that obtained their fat source from plants than people who obtained their fat source from animals.

There is one thing missing from the conclusion whether low carb foods are better than high carb foods and that is exercise. Of all the studies that have been completed no one is looking at the average female or male that is regularly exercising while being on these diets. Without a regular exercise regimen you are just fooling yourself into thinking that you are healthy.

The reason for higher heart risk is that although you may think that you are eating healthy, without regular exercise you are not helping your body at all.

Did You Know

Eating breakfast will help you lose weight. Research shows that eating a healthy breakfast will help you lose weight and stay healthy. The reason for this is that your body reacts to how much food is available. If you do not eat for a long period of time your body thinks it is starving and will store it’s next meal as fat. When you eat frequently your body knows there is plenty of food available and knows not to store it.

If you ever wanted to lose weight and found yourself pounding your head at all the unhealthy diets out then you are not alone. When the Atkins low carb diet was released in the 70’s it cause a big stir because someone was defying the natural food chart for Americans.

Probably the essential mistake that Dr. Atkins made was that you could eat as many calories as you like by cutting out all carbohydrates and still lose weight. What he was saying is that go ahead and eat steak and eggs fried of course for dinner every night and you will still lose weight. This definitely seems a contradiction later in time when Dr. Atkins wrote that you should not gorge yourself. This was not stated in the early writing of Dr. Atkins where he said eat everything you can.

Probably the biggest thing wrong with the low carb diet foods is that you are not supposed to eat white flour or sugar but that you also are not able to eat any grains. This is where moderation can come in to play. If you are trying to obtain a certain weight then you are not on a diet. You are on a weight maintenance program. If you feel that your food can handle things like sugar, whole wheat grains and bananas then eat them. There is no proof that if you eat these along with your diet that you will gain weight. The only way to be sure is to monitor yourself when you start the eat them.

In recent years low carb diet foods have said that most carbohydrates are restricted now as before it was said that they were not allowed at all. When diets come out people always take things to the extreme. Even though something or someone states that something is bad it does not mean that you are not able to do it. This is where the general couple comes into play. As a society we always seem to take everything to the extreme. Try out what you like if it does not work then try something else.

As is the case with most diet foods everything should be taken with a grain of salt. If you start eating low carb diet foods and find that you do not have a lot of energy then you need to take a look at what you are eating. Like anything else monitor what works and what doesn’t.

Did You Know

Your stomach will feel full when it is in fact full. It does not care if it is full because you ate 36 Twinkies or drank 72 gallons of water. Therefore you should get lots of water into you. Water has no carbs and is critical for your body’s metabolism. We’re not suggesting you live only on water, but to definitely get 8 daily glasses into you.

Even fast food companies are starting to realize that they need to offer the public more options when it comes to food. If you are a health fanatic I would not suggest eating out at fast food restaurants too often though.

Subway restaurants if you want to call them that are probably the best option of you are looking for low carb fast food. Although you will be eating bread it is still the healthier choice when eating fast food.

Wendy’s and MacDonald’s are now offering salads within their menus. Wendy’s low carb fast food item would be the Caesar side salad as you do not have to put the dressing on, they also offer the grilled chicken sandwich but that does not mean you have to eat the bread. Macdonald’s now offers salads too, their item is the grilled chicken salad, and this is a great option as you can choose what you like on the salad.

Burger king and taco bell also offer the chicken salad which is similar to Wendy’s and Macdonald’s.
There are several restaurants that have low carb food. Many restaurants are realizing that many healthier people do not dine out but they are adding options to their menus to accommodate them. Remember that the main ingredients in a low carb diet are meat, vegetables, salad and fruit. It should not be that hard to find that kind of combination. Many restaurants will supply bread and potatoes but those are just fillers that you do not have to eat.

If you do find that you are out for a night on the town or that you stopping for a quick bite to eat at a fast food restaurant that you do not have to starve yourself, there are good options.

Did You Know

Eating regularly just makes sense. If you have food in your stomach, then you are not hungry. Most people think dieting means starving. However, this is simply not true. If your body thinks it is starving, it will store fat as a safety mechanism and you will not be able to lose weight. The only way you can lose weight is when your body thinks it is safe to release that stored fat. Therefore, you must eat regular meals and never skip a meal.

If you are finding that you just can’t seem to keep yourself on the straight and narrow low carb diet then maybe it is time for a change. The low carb food diet has been an issue since its inception by Dr. Atkins in the 1970’s.

There can although be a huge balance between the two. Researchers have yet to show refutable evidence that a low carb diet yet alone a high carb diet is detrimental to your health. Researchers have been trying to find the link that causes a person to gain weight. The answer is simple. It is calorie intake.

The Atkins diet works because although you are consuming large amounts of high fat, high protein foods you are also only eating low carbohydrates. The reason this diet works is because you are consuming less calories. When nutritionists and scientists first saw this diet they could not explain the weight loss which is why people panic. Something that is not explainable is not good in our society.

The high carb food diet will also work but can be more detrimental in the long run. The old adage that we are what we eat is a great example of that. If you look at today’s society and the average weight of a person, most people are overweight to some extreme. Some are more overweight than others.

Again though this all comes back to calorie intake. If a person states that they eat only once or twice a day but their calorie intake is around 3500 calories then you are going to gain weight. The problem is here is that you are not supposed to eat too much and you are not supposed to eat too little.

Recent studies have shown that people who had heart issues were more likely to have the heart issue come from the fatty foods they ate. This meant that people who ate more plants were almost 30% less likely to get heart failure than people who got their fatty intake from animals.

The problem is not what we eat but with how much we eat. Fatty foods are fatty foods and there sometimes is no way around them but eating healthy diet not just carbohydrates is essential in living a longer life.

This idea was a great idea but it kind of hit everyone in the face with the notion it was trying to achieve. This diet or now we can say a regular lifestyle eating started with Dr. Atkins. The fad at the time was the Atkins diet.

This was a great way to think about a healthy lifestyle it was just the wrong approach. Dr. Atkins stated that if you ate all the fatty foods you wanted (not sugar and junk food) and also ate all the high protein foods you wanted but did not eat bread, sugar and certain fruits then you could achieve weightloss. The general public and scientist alike were baffled and many people fought back against this notion.

Many scientists refuted this idea and Dr. Atkins even had to defend himself and his idea in front of the senate. If Dr. Atkins would have changed one thing this idea would have been great and many more people would have believed his accusations. The problem was not with his scientific calculations it was the problem with eat all you want. Dr. Atkins before he died would later re write his basic ideas and would change that one thing to say that this does not mean a free for all. Many people if you tell them something will believe any notion you put into their mind.

The fact is that a low carb diet does work. The statistics are there. People who start a low carb food diet, not necessarily the Atkins diet will find that they will lose weight within the 4 weeks. The problem with low carb foods is that you need to be strict and keep on the program for life if possible.

Now the low carb foods program does not mean that you are not able to eat anything. It just simply eliminates or discourages foods that contain sugar, breads and pasta. If you are not Italian then the pasta part should not be that hard.

A low carb foods program will help you to achieve weight loss or help to keep you at the weight you are now but it will also give you more energy and help you live a healthier lifestyle.

Did You Know

When you eat, your stomach doesn’t instantly communicate with your brain. It can take upwards of fifteen minutes for your brain to realize that your stomach is full. During those fifteen minutes, you could have stuffed a lot more food into your stomach. Did you know that your stomach is stretchy? If you eat lots everyday it will stretch and get larger and larger thus requiring more food to fill it. It is in your best interest to know when it’s full and when to stop eating.

Eating low carbohydrate foods or the low carb diet is still around. If you look at the way the media focuses on celebrities it is easy to see why. Now these celebrities that say that they are just made that way may need to wake and smell the coffee. You do not stay thin if you eat everything in sight it is just not possible.

Eating low carbohydrate foods is like anything else. Do you homework and see what works for you. There are several sites and doctors that will not approve of a low carbohydrate diet but there still is no evidence that low carbohydrate foods are bad for you. You still need to be careful and make sure your body is getting enough carbohydrates.

Here are some examples of low carbohydrate foods. Eggs are a great source of low carbohydrate foods. If you want you remove the yolk to make the egg even healthier, and remember do not be afraid to add anything to your eggs when cooking, as I like to say spice it up.

Most meat is a great source especially fish. If you were to look at the Chinese or Japanese for example you do not see too many of them overweight. Yes you can even eat bacon, steak, lamb and veal for example. There are several choices to choose from when eating meat.

Salads and vegetables are also great low carbohydrate foods. There are several vegetables that are a little higher in carbs but if eaten in moderation if would be fine. Some examples of vegetables are alfalfa sprouts, celery, cucumbers, mushrooms, parsley and peppers just to name a few. There are some higher carbohydrate vegetables and they are asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, peas and spinach. Spinach can be very healthy when used as a garnish for your salad.

One of the main arguments of eating low carbohydrate foods is that there can be health risks. I feel though unless you are using this diet to an extreme that it would cause any health concerns. Anything used to an extreme can be unhealthy but this is by no means an excuse to get rid of carbohydrates all together. Although you may see some weight loss your body will start to take the stored fat and you will find that you no energy at all or worse become sick.

The one thing to remember is not to become engrossed by what you eat. If you are not sure of the carbohydrates for something you might just be better off to eat it. Do not and I say do not become obsessed with what you eat.

Did You Know

That for every meal you should sit at the table with slow music playing. You should make up a playlist on your mp3 player or listen to a CD. Whatever you do, make sure to get that music playing. It really does make a difference in how quickly you eat. This is very important because slow music slows your appetite.

Eating healthy has been a very big concern since the invention of the eating healthy pyramid created in the 1960. Scientists will argue that eating low carb foods can be dangerous to your health. Each person is different though and what might be too much for one person might not be enough for another.

If you were to look at the list of the low carb foods you would see that they pretty much fit exactly into the US food pyramid that was released by the US department of agriculture except for breads and sugars.

Although many people refute the idea of eating low carb foods no one seems to refute the idea that you should eat oils, fats and sweets. If you were to look at a low carb food pyramid it definitely does not look all that unappealing. Perhaps it is safe to say that the pyramid looks almost the same.

Eating low carb foods is almost similar to how you eat now. The only difference is you watch what types of carbs that you eat. The one big difference is that you do not eat sugar or fatty foods. No snacking unless it is a healthy snack. Although some low carb food diets allow the use of splenda I do not recommend this as there would be no reason to use a substitute.

If you feel yourself starting to slip in energy then you may need to look at what you are in taking. It could be possible that you may be lacking a certain nutrient to help with the lost energy. That can be said for someone who is overweight sometimes it might not be what they are eating just the quantity of the bad food.

Low carb foods are essential if you are looking at losing weight or just maintaining the weight you are at. There are so many diets out there it is probably easier to just make a conscious effort as to what you put in your mouth.

We recognize that privacy of your personal information is important. Here is information on what types of personal information we receive and collect when you use and visit our website, and how we safeguard your information. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Log Files
As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Shaw Cable), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site.

Cookies and Web Beacons
We do use cookies to store information, such as your personal preferences when you visit our site. This could include only showing you a popup once in your visit, or the ability to login to some of our features, such as forums.

We also use third party advertisements to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP , the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).

DoubleClick DART cookies
We also may use DART cookies for ad serving through Google’s DoubleClick, which places a cookie on your computer when you are browsing the web and visit a site using DoubleClick advertising (including some Google AdSense advertisements). This cookie is used to serve ads specific to you and your interests (”interest based targeting”). The ads served will be targeted based on your previous browsing history (For example, if you have been viewing sites about visiting Las Vegas, you may see Las Vegas hotel advertisements when viewing a non-related site, such as on a site about hockey). DART uses “non personally identifiable information”. It does NOT track personal information about you, such as your name, email address, physical address, telephone number, social security numbers, bank account numbers or credit card numbers. You can opt-out of this ad serving on all sites using this advertising by visiting http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/dart_adserving.aspx

You can choose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.

Deleting cookies does not mean you are permanently opted out of any advertising program. Unless you have settings that disallow cookies, the next time you visit a site running the advertisements, a new cookie will be added.
